Fart, Its Good For Your Blood Pressure
Passing gas maybe the next big thing when it comes to lowering your blood pressure.
When we fart, we pass a type of gas known in the scientific world as hydrogen sulphide, and it is this gas that according to US researchers can offer us benefits when it comes to helping to regulate our blood pressure levels.
According to researchers from the US, mice who did not have an enzyme in their blood that produces hydrogen sulphide, the by-product of farts had an average blood pressure higher than those mice who did have the enzyme in their blood.
“Now that we know hydrogen sulfide’s role in regulating blood pressure, it may be possible to design drug therapies that enhance its formation as an alternative to the current methods of treatment for hypertension,” says co-author and Johns Hopkins neuroscientist Solomon H. Snyder, MD, in a news release.
Researchers say that if this theory can be proven in humans, then it may lead to better treatments being developed to help people who have a hard time managing their blood pressure.
