In Gee Chun of Korea, the 2015 U.S. Women's Open victor, shot an eight-under par 63 and is tied for the lead with countryman Sung Hyun Park after the first round of the Evian Championship at Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France.

In Gee Chun posted a 5-under round of 66 to take a two-shot lead at the Evian Championship on Friday, keeping the 22-year-old South Korean on course for the second major of her career.

Smith opened up in style and had four birdies on her card by the turn, before a couple of back-nine bogeys left her six behind leaders In-gee Chun and fellow Korean Sung-hyun Park.

Korean Park, a non-member of the LPGA Tour who led during this year's US Women's Open where she tied for third, grabbed a share of the lead by sinking a 6m birdie putt at the 18th.

Chun, the 2015 U.S. Women's Open champion, said she felt nervous after missing the cut here a year ago but hardly let it show.

"I could see the putting lines very well, and I was so good rolling the ball on those lines", said Chun. I'm always happy to play with Ariya because she's so nice, and I played with Julia today.

Ko tees off the defence of her Evian Championship in Evian-les-Bains, France on Thursday night (NZ time).

"When I landed in Guangzhou it was surprising kind of because there were more than 100 people waiting for me, and that made me feel like I was a star", she said.

Her best performance in a major was back in 2003, when she was tied for second at the U.S. Women's Open.

When Ko sank her first birdie of the day, a 15-meter effort on the fifth hole, it drew a rueful smile from Pettersen, who had just missed with her birdie attempt from a similar distance.

Ladies European Tour Order of Merit leader Beth Allen got off to a bad start with a quadruple-bogey eight at the first and eventually finished six over, while nearest rival in the rankings Catriona Matthew shot a 73 to leave the Scot two over. You know, just the big buildup going towards it, and ever since "09, since they first announced that golf would be in the Olympics, I wanted to make sure that I was there in Rio. Standing over the last shot on the ninth green, I just told myself, 'I'm so exhausted, but it's just one more shot.' Pleased to execute as good as I did". She played in a pair of tournaments in 2015, including the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic where she tied for 41st with a 3-under 285.

Defending champion Lydia Ko, the Olympic silver medalist, shot a one-under 70.

"I first met Dean last year at Evian third round, so started this year, Dean and me", Ko said. It is named after 10-time major victor Annika Sorenstam.

"I had a few shots lead so had a bit of breathing space and could really enjoy it all".

Minnesota Vikings undecided on QB for home opener
They took a 10-0 lead into halftime after Murray jumped into the air and dove over a defender to finish off a 6-yard TD catch. The Vikings likely will need again to play staunch defense to win, and also would be well served to shore up the kicking game.
