U.S. vows all-out defense against 'grave' North Korean

Currently South Korea relies on USA operated reconnaissance satellites especially when it is about core military information involving North Korea's Nuclear and missile related moves.

Wednesday's establishment of a high-level Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group is being accompanied by unusually blunt public comments from the US secretaries of defense and state about the possibility of nuclear war initiated by Pyongyang on the Korean peninsula.

Carter also stated South Korea's security is guaranteed owing to the "full spectrum of USA defense capabilities", reaffirming US commitment to extended deterrence on the Korean peninsula.
