Is Clinton Really Clear of Charges in Latest FBI E-mail Review?

Calvin SaundersNov 14, 2016

The Democratic nominee's opponent, Republican Donald Trump, reacted with anger at the news, and cast doubt on whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation had even carried out its work. Perhaps they also don't understand why Comey found that the evidence showed no bad intent by Clinton or the lawyers who reviewed her emails to delete personal material.

"They've bungled the investigation from the beginning", Trump spokesman Jason Miller said on CNN. Clinton insisted all along that the discovered batch of emails would not yield anything new.

Meanwhile, Clinton enters Election Day with multiple paths to victory, while Trump must win most of the roughly dozen battleground states in order to clinch 270 Electoral College votes.

Despite reports about desperate final days behind the scenes - one anonymous advisor compared it to the bunker before Hitler killed himself in a NY magazine article - the grandfather of eight's stamina has been extraordinary.

Trump's performance in the October 19 debate was widely panned, especially his refusal to say that he would respect the outcome of the election if he lost.

Just 11 days before the election, Comey sent a letter to Republican members of Congress letting them know about some new emails that could be considered pertinent to an earlier FBI investigation. But the latest development could help Hillary Clinton put to rest a controversy that has dogged her in the 2016 race's closing days.

Clinton's campaign said the candidate would not be discussing the news Monday as she campaigns in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and MI. She and some of her aides tried to erase some incriminating messages. We were once again up in all but two of the battleground states, and we were up considerably in some that we ended up losing.

Stephen Colbert: 'We should never, ever have another election like this one'
Again, we don't know what's going to happen, but I was thinking this was going to be the time that she got what she wanted. The show closed with the band playing "God Bless America", and it sounded like a funeral dirge.

On Monday, Clinton focused on the places that don't allow early voting. "The real question for us is what kind of country we want to be."Obama's address amounted to a valedictory for the president whose popularity has grown in his final year in office."America, I'm betting on you one more time", Obama said".

"This election is a moment of reckoning", she told voters Sunday night. "Between strong and steady leadership or a loose cannon".

Comey's second letter, Nayak subsequently wrote, "energized Trump supporters".

"Hillary Clinton is guilty".

Said Powell: "We can't have a '90s situation, where people are at odds and not talking about it".

In a letter Monday to Comey, Goodlatte asked if Comey had talked with Attorney General Loretta Lynch before clearing the latest batch of Clinton's emails recovered from a laptop shared by Clinton aide Huma Abiden and estranged husband Anthony Weiner.

Weiner, a Democratic former congressman from NY, is the estranged husband of Clinton aide Huma Abedin, and the new emails were found on a computer he used that was searched as part of an investigation into lewd text messages Weiner is alleged to have sent to a teenage girl. Then, Comey said, "no reasonable prosecutor" would recommend Clinton face criminal charges.

American Apparel abandons United Kingdom stores, resumes talks with bidders
American Apparel's United Kingdom business is likely to be closed after the fashion retailer appointed administrators on Tuesday. American Apparel, which filed for bankruptcy a year ago , lost its chief executive, Paula Schneider, in October.

"Markets are likely to remove some of the risk premium taken as a precaution against a (Donald) Trump victory now that Hilary Clinton will not be charged over her use of a private email server", Ric Spooner, chief market analyst at CMC Markets, said in a commentary.

Clinton still appears to hold an edge over Trump in the campaign's final stretch. Roughly half the states with advance voting have reported record turnout, including Florida and Nevada, which have booming Latino populations. In Florida, Latino participation is up by more than 453,000 votes, almost doubling the 2012 level.

But nearly 40 million voters have already cast mail-in, absentee or early voting ballots.

Clinton's high-wattage allies also fanned out across the country, including President Barack Obama, who was joined by musical icon Stevie Wonder at a rally in Florida.

Mr Trump's chances rest with his performance in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and OH, which were too close to call on Sunday, when polling ended, and Pennsylvania, where Ms Clinton enjoyed a slim lead of three percentage points.

Trump, too, planned to keep up the breakneck campaign pace through Tuesday.

Contests in New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania could well go down go down to the wire.

And so the transition, that first step, might be a little bit tough here". "It's part of what makes him so good during the game". Ha ha haaaaaa, that one is still amusing to me. "I'm a firm believer I'm the best center fielder in the game", Kiermaier said .

After voting in New York Tuesday morning, Trump was scheduled to return to Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina and New Hampshire.
