Missouri college student wins date with tennis star in Super Bowl bet

Genie Bouchard is a pretty good tennis player, now ranked 47th in the world and hailing from Canada.

She did just that when she acknowledged a fan's request for a date if the New England Patriots were to win Super Bowl 51.

The Patriots would then go on to record one of the greatest Super Bowl comebacks of all-time with Tom Brady picking up his fifth title.

After the Atlanta Falcons surged into a 28-3 lead, former Wimbledon finalist Bouchard bullishly announced: "I knew Atlanta would win btw." on Twitter.

Texas governor blocks funding over sanctuary policy
The Senate Republican Caucus is throwing its support behind the bill. "Maybe that's a good thing". Despite the hard economic climate, the plan would not tap the state's Rainy Day Fund.

At this stage, one plucky fan decided he had nothing to lose and asked 'if Patriots win we go on a date?' "We can go on a date wherever you want!"

Rather than hide away from her bet, Bouchard asked the Twitter user where he lived and he promptly revealed he lives in Chicago. "And I will do it, I stay true to my word", she tweeted.

The Chicago Tribune identified the lucky young man as John Goehrke, a 20-year-old University of Missouri junior.

With quarterback Tom Brady picking apart the tiring Falcons defence, they put on 19 unanswered fourth-quarter points to lock the game up.

DE prisons on lockdown, smoke reported at facility
Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna had taken over the building, state lawmaker William Carson told Delaware Public Media . Jayme Gravell, a spokesperson for DOC, said an emergency situation was reported at the Smyrna prison late this morning.

Later, Bouchard added, "Lesson learned".

Finally, when the Pats capped off their stunning 34-28 OT victory, she tweeted out an abbreviation for a phrase which shouldn't be repeated in a family newspaper.

It would have been easy for the Canadian, who recently reached the third round of the Australian Open, to back out of the ill-conceived wager.
