Border police discover drugs catapult on US-Mexico border

Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona seized almost 50 pounds of marijuana that was catapulted over the border by drug smugglers in Mexico.

It was a contraption built to launch drugs across the border from Mexico into the United States, and U.S. Border Patrol agents have made sure it can't be used again. Agents were drawn to the area when they noticed several people retreat from the south side of the fence as they approached.

Agents dismantled the catapult system, which was taken by Mexican authorities. They scoured the area and found two bundles that contained a combined 47 pounds of marijuana.

U.S. Border Patrol agents say they witnesses a group catapulting drugs over the U.S. -Mexico wall last week. No arrests were reported.

Authorities say a catapult used to launch drugs from Mexico into the United States has been found and dismantled. Vehicle ramps and lightweight aircraft have also been used to get drugs across the border, according to CBS News.
