Trump says media treated Flynn unfairly

President Trump has faced multiple leaks of information about his calls with foreign leaders. FILE - in this February 1, 2017, file photo, National Security Adviser Michael Flynn walks past White House press secretary Sean Spicer to the podium to speak during the daily news briefing at the White House, in Washington.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Mr. Trump made the right decision in asking Mr. Flynn to step down.

A United States official said Flynn's departure, coupled with Russia's aggression in Ukraine and Syria and Republican congressional opposition to removing sanctions on Russia, removes Trump's most ardent advocate of taking a softer line toward Russian President Vladimir Putin. White House Press secretary Sean Spicer points as he answers questions from members of the media during the daily briefing in the Brady Press Briefing Room of the White House in Washington, Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017.

The downfall of Lt. Gen Michael Flynn, President Donald Trump's pick for national security adviser, could be seen as a case of just desserts.

The Kremlin had confirmed that Mr. Flynn was in contact with Mr. Kislyak, but denied that they talked about lifting sanctions.

Manchester City and Atletico Madrid win in Champions League
Willie Collum will officiate. "Surely it is the most intense rivals we have faced in the Champions League". Atletico have drawn four of their last five away games and that looks the value bet here.

Besides, it is now obvious that Trump would have done nothing about Flynn, the "kompromat" national security adviser, had the leaks not exposed this unsafe situation.

Flynn resigned late Monday following reports that he had discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador to the USA before Trump was sworn into office. He appeared to delight in jousting with reporters, repeatedly interrupting their questions and singling out stories he disagreed with, well aware his attacks were sure to be cheered by loyal supporters who share his views. Trump is also considering former CIA Director David Petraeus and Vice Admiral Robert Harward, a U.S. Navy SEAL, for the post, according to a senior administration official.

On the very day in December that President Barack Obama instituted new sanctions on Russia for its interference in the presidential election, Flynn contacted Russian ambassador Sergey I. Kislyak.

After his resignation, Flynn has remained resolute in his loyalty, stating that the Trump administration "will go down in history as one of the greatest presidencies in US history".

I have been deeply troubled for months about Russian manipulation of the 2016 presidential campaign and growing evidence of Russia's influence inside the White House.

Melania Trump Announces That White House Visitation Resumes In March
As for the First Lady, she is assured that " she is very happy and that she gives all her support to her husband and her family ". It seems like hard times are hitting Melania Trump as she struggles to take on her new role as First Lady.

"This is a moment for Republicans to put country ahead of party", Connecticut Sen.

Nothing has been proved yet except that Flynn is a liar, and that Trump's crazed and chaotic White House failed to discipline him until they had no choice. That's a far different stance toward potential wrongdoing by the executive branch than Chaffetz took previous year, when House Republicans issued more than 70 letters and subpoenas aimed at investigating Democrat Hillary Clinton over a period of less than three months after the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced criminal charges weren't warranted related to her use of a private email server as secretary of state.

Ahead of the January 20 inauguration, Pence and other officials insisted publicly that Flynn had not discussed sanctions in his talks with the Russian ambassador.

In a pair of tweets Thursday, Trump says, "Leaking, and even illegal classified leaking, has been a big problem in Washington for years". On Thursday, Trump dismissed the controversy about ties between his aides and Russian Federation as a "ruse" and "scam" perpetrated by a hostile news media, and he denied any of his associates had contacts with Moscow before last year's election. The Republican president's Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, said last week that the Twitter attacks were "demoralizing" and "disheartening", according to a spokesman.

February 13 - Flynn delivers the president's daily briefing, sits in on his calls with foreign leaders and joins his meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
