CBS Pulls "Doubt" After Just Two Episodes

April AlvarezFeb 28, 2017

We have the swiftest cancellation of the season.

CBS has canceled Katherine Heigl's new legal drama Doubt after only two episodes aired. The series, which was redeveloped and largely recast from last pilot season, will be replaced by a repeat of Bull in Doubt's Wednesday at 10 p.m. slot on Wednesday, March 1. The following week, the second season of "Criminal Minds: Beyond Border" will premiere, and will take over the timeslot going forward. It would seem that the decision to pull Doubt off the air after only two episodes is the final blow to Heigl's television career.

Syria Fighting Continues as UN Talks Get Under Way
To date, the near six-year war in Syria has claimed some 300,000 lives and displaced millions. The government delegation had earlier said it would study a paper after seeing de Mistura.

Although the legal drama has not officially been cancelled, it will no longer be a part of the current schedule due to low ratings. This was slightly less then Code Black, the show Doubt replaced in the same time slot.

The show, the first network series to present a trans actor in an featured role, was initially developed for the 2014 television season but was retooled with Heigl as lead.

First Trump Budget to Take Aim at Non-Retiree Social Safety Net
Trump insisted Monday morning that tax reform is not an option until the White House and Congress can push through a plan to "repeal and replace" Obamacare.

Doubt premiered with a 0.8 in the 18-49 demo and 5.31 million viewers, and fell further to 0.6 and 4.03 million viewers for its second episode. Dule Hill and Steven Pasquale co-starred.

As the ratings bar becomes lower and the definition of a hit becomes blurry, broadcast networks have taken to "trimming" episode orders or letting shows run their course without offering a back-nine order. It's also surprising because CBS had given full-season orders to nearly its entire fall freshman lineup.
