Trump taps Bush administration lawyer and Cruz friend as Solicitor General

Noel Francisco, until this year a partner at the Jones Day law firm and a former Justice Department official under George W. Bush, was nominated by President Trump on Tuesday as solicitor general of the United States.

Francisco previously worked at the Jones Day Law Firm. "He is as easy to work with as he is persuasive to the courts., He can advance controversial issues without annoying the other side and even people who disagree with him in principal uniformly like him as a person".

Francisco now serves as the administration's acting solicitor general, the National Law Journal reports.

Washington state unemployment rate holds steady in January
Statewide, Mercer and Auglaize counties were two of six states with unemployment rates at or below 4.5 percent. The 1.3-percent increase was about 0.4-percent higher than the increase from December 2015 to January 2016.

Francisco has been serving in that job already, in an acting capacity. He represented former Virginia Gov.

Francisco has argued before the Supreme Court on several occasions, including two high-profile cases from recent sittings. He began his law career as a clerk for two well-regarded conservative jurists, Judge J. Michael Luttig on the 4th Circuit and then for legendary originalist Justice Antonin Scalia. Bob McDonnell in a successful attempt to throw out McDonnell's corruption convictions. With Katsas over in the White House Counsel's office, that would seem to leave Francisco as the last man standing.

He also represented religious non-profits whose battles against having to offer insurance coverage for contraceptives under the Affordable Care Act were given another chance before lower courts.

Signet Jewelers Limited (NYSE:SIG) Institutional Ownership stands at 95.5
Full-year sales forecasts are pegged at $6.46B, representing a drop of almost -1.82% over last fiscal year's revenues of $6.58B. Goldman Sachs Group Inc's target price would suggest a potential upside of 36.27% from the stock's previous close.

He also successfully fought and obtained a ruling in 2014 that limited the White House from filling presidential appointee positions without the Senate's approval.

His nomination will require Senate confirmation. William McGinley, another former Jones Day partner, was appointed as the president's lead liaison to the cabinet. Because of that, don't expect too rough a ride for Francisco, with the exception of some opportunities to hammer the administration over the so-called "travel ban".
