Blizzard Watch issued for shoreline ahead of Tuesday's storm

Calvin SaundersMar 12, 2017

There will be a chance of rain before 10 p.m. tonight, followed by rain and snow between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. and snow after 1 a.m.

Around 7 a.m. Saturday, temperatures across the Island were hovering in the midteens, said Faye Barthold, a meteorologist with the weather service's Upton bureau.

Sunday will be cold too, with highs only in the lower 30s statewide.

Temperatures are expected to start out in the 30s overnight Friday, and the cold will intensify even after the skies clear on Friday afternoon, meaning the snowfall likely will remain on the ground for the Morristown St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday.

More snow is anticipated during Tuesday and possibly into Tuesday night, but the NWS won't release those estimates until this afternoon.

Man with axe 'injures several in Dusseldorf train station rampage'
Terrified passengers took to social media to say the situation inside the station "looked bad" shortly after the attack. Two people have been arrested after an "ax rampage" at a major train station left at least four people injured.

Along the shore, some snow is possible, but more rain than snow is likely.

Although this winter has been historically warm and snowless, the best potential for snow we've seen all winter appears to be on tap for early next week.

Snow will begin across the Midwest from the initial low Saturday night into Sunday (more on that below). Wind gusts of 40 miles per hour to 50 miles per hour could blow along the coast, according to the National Weather Service.

"It looks like it will be really light snow, or maybe a mix of wintry precipitation", Jackson said. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.

Thursday Night: A chance of rain before 1am, then a chance of rain and snow between 1am and 2am, then snow after 2am.

European campaign starts after Rostov for Jose Mourinho's Manchester United
Rostov are likely to be at full strength, except for doubts over injured first-choice goalkeeper Soslan Dzhanayev. United will hope to continue their impressive run in Europe's second-tier competition when they take on Rostov.

Today should be partly sunny with a high near 27 and gusting winds. The high should be 36 but there won't be snow.

The forecast Saturday night into Sunday is much of the same story and Hotz said he doesn't think there will be a drastic change until the latter part of next week.

Clouds will thicken as we go throughout the day, it will be much colder with highs only around 53 degrees in Charlotte. A slight shift closer to the New Jersey coast or further out in the Atlantic Ocean could mean a huge difference in the storm's impact on the Garden State. Little snow accumulation is likely.

There will be another chance for a rain/snow mix Tuesday night, but this event won't have almost as many impacts as the weekend storm system.
